Early 19th Century Staffordshire Blue Willow Meat Drainer

Exquisite Early and rare 19th Century Staffordshire Blue Willow Meat Drainer, made in Staffordshire, England in the 1820's. A wonderful and decorative platter drain that would be placed on a large platter for the excess juices of the fish or meat to drain into the platter below at the table. This one is larger than most of the ones we find, and older.

It is marked for William Smith & Co., who started the Stafford Pottery at Stockton-on-Tees in 1825. The stamp ‘Warranted Stafford Stone China’ is in a scroll surrounded by foliage, and also the number sixteen. This is a lovely drainer, with gorgeous blue colors, still bright and shiny after almost 200 years later. In wonderful condition with two small hairlines to the back. A rare and exceptional addition to your collection.
