Exceptional 18th Century Staffordshire Soft Paste Red & White Plate

Exceptional Antique Staffordshire Soft Paste Red & White Plate with shells, flowers, seaweed and anchors on the scalloped rim, the center features a couple dancing while another play musical instruments. From a private collection, this red, or sometimes called pink, transfer plate is gorgeous.

Made by one of the Adams cousins, reputed to be Josiah Wedgwood's favorite pupil, in the late 1700's. The plates have the impressed Adams mark on the back. A rare delight for your collection of 18th century English pottery and porcelains. These early pieces have the usual pottery factory irregularities, these are the things that we love in these early museum quality pieces.
