Antique Hand Painted Pink Roses Porcelain Chocolate Pot and 5 Cups, an amazingly beautiful set for those of you who collect antique porcelain, love pink roses and or chocolate! {That covers most of us I think} Entirely hand painted with the most beautiful pink roses, edged with hand applied gilt. Made by Ernst Wahliss, who established his fine porcelain business in Vienna, Austria in 1863. This set is late 19th-century, of heirloom porcelain quality. Completely painted by hand, each saucer, thin elegant cup, and of course the exquisite chocolate pot is embellished with sweet pink roses, on a shimmering white to pale sky blue luster glazed ground. Each Cup and the Pot are signed by the artist, H. Obot.
Each piece is hand embellished with gilt edging. The chocolate pot features the hand painted pink roses on the top as well as encircling the bottom. The charming lid has a gilded 'ring' finial, and again those amazing roses! To find a set of this quality is a dream. There is some loss to the gilt on the handle of the pot, as shown, and I'm sure small losses to the gilt here and there. This set was much beloved and actually used by the family to serve hot chocolate, which in the time period this set was made was all the rage for families of high social and economic standing. Marked with the red back stamp, 'Hand Painted' and numbered 3 9140 on the base.
