Antique Aesthetic Majolica Platter Bread Plate with an aqua fan background, it features a flying crane and pink cherry blossoms. Made by Wardle & Co. of Hanley, Staffordshire, England, the company produced majolica from 1871-1909.
This design was originally called Bird and Fan, it was the most avidly collected of the company's designs. Pictured in Mariann Katz-Marks book "Majolica Pottery" - the edge is rimmed with a bamboo pattern. Such an unusual large piece of majolica for your collection! Impressed with a registry mark on the bottom. Age appropriate wear and condition - beautiful.
