Rare 18th Century 'Le Couche de la Mariee' Antique French Print by Pierre Antoine Baudouin Framedl

Rare 18th Century 'Le Couche de la Mariee' Antique French Print by Pierre Antoine Baudouin, bought at a brocante in a pretty silvered frame behind glass. This beautiful antique 18th century engraving is an original hand tinted etching and engraving made by Jean-Baptiste Blaise Simonet (1742-1817) after the painting of Pierre-Antoine Baudouin (1723-1769). It is The Bedtime of the Bride (Le coucher de la mariée) Pierre-Antoine Baudouin {1723-1769} was a French painter working in the style of his father-in-law, François Boucher. He was elected a member of the French Royal Academy of Painting and Sculpture.

This engraving was done by Jean Michel Moreau le Jeune {French, 1741–1814.} I bought this at market, it's rare to find a hand colored version of this engraving, most are monotone. The dealer married this print to a beautiful antique silvered frame, as you can see by the back, at one time it was a standing frame. No longer able to stand, it has a wire hanger. It suits the print beautifully, and even though over the centuries the very bottom of this rare print was cut, it displays beautifully. Priced accordingly.
