Antique French Jeweled Filigree Religious Gilt Crown with Cross

Antique French Jeweled Filigree Religious Gilt Crown with Cross most likely worn by an Infant Jesus Statue in a French chapel. Red faceted crystals are set on each side of the crown, and in the cross. The red paste stones symbolize Holy Week, they are glued in.

Miniature Crowns or Tiaras like this are rare to find, as their small size made them more easily stolen or "lost" than the larger sizes. A fine example of an antique French Santos crown destined to adorn a beautiful Christ Child statue. This still has the metal "pin" to attach to the head. Discoloration as shown, especially inside by the pin, and on the very edges. Dates to the earlier 1900's.
