Rare to find Rare Antique French Lavender Purple Floral Tureen, a stunning piece in the Cérès pattern, from the Sarreguemines faiencerie, date marked 1870-1880. The pottery at Sarreguemines was established in 1784, and had great success during the Empire period,  Napoleon ordered whole sets of dinnerware and bestowed an honor to the company. Renowned for their fine quality craftsmanship and beautiful intricate designs, this pottery played a significant role in French ceramic artistry during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

The beautiful floral pattern takes its name from Cérès the goddess of wheat and harvests in Roman Mythology. The elegant lavender purple on white design features floral bouquets on top of a classical border on the inner rim, and a floral sprig and leaf border on the scalloped edges. A different bouquet embellishes the center of the tureen. Sure to delight your table, or to display with your other antique French faience, this adds a feminine touch to any setting. A fantastic find, in good antique condition. Marked by the factory on the back with their back stamp. Serve for entertaining, add flowers for a centerpiece, or stack antique mercury balls during the holidays….this is going to be a statement making piece in your home.
