Fall is a favorite of just about everyone, and it’s almost here! Set your table in autumn style, with these stunning fall table decorating ideas. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite tables for fall. It’s easy to Design an Autumn-Inspired Table. Whether you are hosting just one, or perhaps a socially distanced dinner for 6, you’re sure to find an idea that will spark your imagination!
USE A SURPRISINGLY EASY CENTERPIECE.
Flowers are always gorgeous, but sometimes simple is just as beautiful. For this fall table, I filled an antique mustard colored bowl with freshly picked apples, and called it done. Bonus : should you or your guests still be hungry after the meal or perhaps be watching calories, an apple can take the place of a slice of autumn pie. {not really, but it’s an option!}

MIX AND MATCH ANTIQUE AND CONTEMPORARY GLASSES.
Don’t be afraid to mix different types and colors of glassware to set an interesting, layered table. I used inexpensive champagne flutes with antique hand etched glasses, and antique pearlized glass compotes on top of the plates to serve shrimp nestled in a small bed of lettuce.

COMBINE COLORS OF THE SEASON FOR YOUR PLACE SETTINGS.
These antique Floribel ironstone plates are wonderful any time of year. For fall, I picked up on the golden and brown colors. The linen towels embroidered with wheat add to the wildflower theme of the plates. Larger than a napkin, we often use hand towels here at FrenchGardenHouse at the table, they cover your lap!

ADD PERSONALIZED PLACE CARDS.
A personalized place card adds a touch of elegance to any table setting. Write a favorite scripture, a note to your friend, or a quote on the back. I use our FrenchGardenHouse oversized tags for this. My guests love to take them home and hang them on the knob of their armoire at home, or in the center of a seasonal wreath. One of my girlfriends has a small collection that she displays tied around her wine bottles on her bar.

USE THE COLORS YOU LOVE.
Just because it’s fall doesn’t mean you have to use autumn colors. If you love blue and red, use the pieces you love! On this table, I layered an antique French linen sheet as the cover with gold rimmed charger plates, and antique flow blue dinner plates. To top off this small stack, each guests receives a packaged set of our French Country Rooster Gift Tags Set to take home.

SKIP THE PAPER NAPKINS.
I know, paper is so easy. But really, when did a paper napkin ever make you feel special after your 8th birthday party when your napkins had dancing pink ponies on them? Linen napkins, luxury quality, beautiful napkins are an investment. You can wash them. You don’t even have to iron them, I often don’t. But each and every time you use them, you will think “wow…these are amazing!” {case closed}

I hope this inspires you to set a lovely table at home, to enchant your every days, and to enjoy the changing of the season at home.

I love the simplicity, sophistication and elegance of your Fall tablescape. It’s funny…I love to treasure hunt for beautiful things but once I go to put a collection together I always opt for “less is best.” I just ordered your oval deer picture for my fireplace and the plum, green and white wool blanket and I’m so excited to get them….they will be the inspiration for my Fall decor this year. Thank you for your inspiration and french classy guidance Lidy!
Linda, thank you so much! THey are on their way to you…I hope you will love them in your home. xo
I, too, love setting the table — it’s cooking the turkey that I have a problem with! Beautiful, Miss lidy!

So simple and so elegant, I love cloth napkins too! It seems I need to add linen ones to my collection.
Your linen napkins complete a table. I love them, you know how much I do.
Gloria, yes I do! We both love new as well as antique linens on our tables. : )
