Gorgeous decorative Antique French Toleware Jardiniere, perhaps a waste basket, in a luscious green with huge hand painted floral bouquet. Absolutely stunning, the flowers are expertly painted, lush pink and golden yellow roses, lavender, red, yellow and apricot garden flowers are mixed in with the variety of French flowers. Signed by the artist long ago, the reticulated edge gives this piece a flirty charm. Please excuse the glare from the camera, there is still varnish left on this piece which is why it has been so well preserved.
Rare to find with such amazing hand painting, the back features a single fleur, the sides have gilt shell ornamentation. Use this to display a topiary, this is a luxury addition to your collection. Delicious green has the crackled finish the French are famous for. Abrasions consistent with usage throughout resulting in just the tiniest loss to painted florals. Craquelure. Rim is bent slightly in some areas. Rust and surface grime to interior. Measures 11~3/4h x 10~1/2″ x 9~1/2″.
