Exceptional Victorian Sterling Silver Necessaire, a slim case or wallet fitted with a pencil that slips into the side {it works!} The front and the back of the case are beautifully hand engraved with stunning designs of a young woman in a garden, smelling a flower and surrounded by lush plants, foxgloves, ferns and other garden favorites. The other side has a garden gate surrounded by leaves, the center forming a cartouche that could be engraved with a sentiment or monogram.
Both sides feature stamped hallmarks which include the Victoria duty mark, the lion passant which represents the sterling content, the London mark, and the date letter for 1879. The maker’s mark shows this was made by Sampson Mordan. One of the most beautiful luxury collectible sterling pieces you will find for your collection. A luxury gift for someone you love, or to display with your objet ‘d art with pride.
