Garden Tour: Southern California Impressionist Garden

Just in time to inspire you, this gorgeous garden in Southern California.

Filled with bright flowers, most in pots, isn’t this so happy? This charmer belongs to artist Erin Houghton, who paints fantastic flowers in bright happy colors.

I met Erin long ago, when both of us were just starting to blog.  I wish I could visit her more often.  She has a Bentley too, just like we do. {see him above, surveying his patio}  She plants parsley in pots, just for him, since he likes to “eat” the plants in the garden ~ that way he won’t get sick. Such a great idea.  I wonder if my own Bentley {our 1~1/2  year old Lab} will fall for that instead of roaming around our flower borders looking for tasty morsels?

A great place to relax with a cup of coffee in the morning, or iced tea in the afternoon.

Of course, this is a favorite!  This looks like it could be in the Provence, doesn’t it?  Love the bistro chair in Blue, and the metal chairs painted to match.

Cutest little bunnies decorate the tiny picket fence.  Erin’s hydrangeas look gorgeous and healthy.

An old bike painted blue makes a great accent in Erin’s garden, the basket filled with a riot of color.  How fun to change this out for the seasons.  Great idea*** Going in my idea file for the garden!

Erin paints in these colors, and loves them in her garden, too, she calls herself a modern day Impressionist.  I love that she has so many spots to sit down and visit with friends and family.  The wicker chairs look inviting, she has a rag rug on the ground to make this a perfect little outdoor room.

A quote from Erin’s Blog: Proverbs 16.24
Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to
the soul and healing to the bones.

Thanks so much, Erin, for allowing me to share your beautiful, happy garden! You can visit Erin at My Painted Garden.

This garden looks like France! Thanks for the tour, I got some great ideas. Now I’m going to look at Erin’s paintings.

  2. Wow, such beautiful colors. I think I could do something like this with all the pots. Our little patio isn’t big, but my kids love to plant and water. It is inspirational, just like you. Happy 4th!
