FRENCH COUNTRY PICNIC FLOWERS

Few things express the joys of summer like a gorgeous bouquet of bright, fresh flowers. Flowers transform any event {even a country picnic} no matter how small.

A small vase of your summer favorites will add a lovely festive touch to your picnic, whether it’s an intimate setting for just the two of you, or a larger gathering for your family and friends.

This post will show you how you can transform a simple picnic in the park {or your back garden} and capture a bit of French joie de vivre, by adding an array of your favorite French Country flowers.

Because no one understands the concept of le pique-nique better than the French, n’est pas?

For this FLORAL FRIDAY, my three flower loving friends and I created a floral arrangement in a jar, to use at a summer picnic.  If this is your first time here, WELCOME!  I’m so excited to have you join me today….please pull up a garden chair and join me at my back garden picnic.  Be sure to visit Shirley, Pam and Mary by clicking the links at the bottom of this post, you won’t want to miss them!

For my French Country Summer Picnic, I decided to set a small table up in the back garden.

Shaded by the large gingko tree, our grassy area is perfect for picnics.

The best thing about picnics, with a table or not, is that It can be as simple or elaborate as you like.

My very favorite picnics have occurred along the Seine in the summer, with a crunchy fresh-baked baguette, some French cheese, an apple and a bottle of French wine.

But any time and anywhere you can enjoy the beauty of the outdoors with people you love is a good time, don’t you think so?

No matter where you are, you can capture a bit of Parisian joie de vivre outdoors.

A French basket filled with food, a bottle of wine, or sparkling water {wine is more fun!} a few dishes, and fresh fruit is all you need.

I placed my outdoor table near my little French Garden House by the old gingko tree. And set the table with the brightest dishes we sell, covered in bright, cheerful flowers. They are so colorful, a little boho French Country Chic!

They’re perfect for an outdoor soiree, and together with the bee linen napkins, they tell my garden story, don’t they?

Adding a pretty bouquet of your favorite garden flowers makes it all the more beautiful!

There is no need to over-complicate matters, a single flower variety is perfect.

Pink lisianthus is actually a perfect flower for summer, it looks like a rose, and can last in a vase for 2 to 3 weeks. It’s such an elegant flower you’d never guess it’s native to American prairies, it’s also called Prairie Rose.

Creating a beautiful picnic French Country style is easy, add a few colorful dishes, some easy {you can buy everything!} food, a simple floral arrangement, and you are ready to pass the Pâté and be transported!
