Antique Estate Blue Transferware Country Waste Bowl

Antique Estate Blue Transferware Country Waste Bowl Antique Estate Blue Transferware Country Waste Bowl

Beautiful old Transferware Country Waste Bowl, with a decorative design of the countryside and a farmer holding a pitch fork, a milk maid {his wife?} carrying two buckets, and a few cows leisurely enjoying the afternoon in the meadow in front of a small farm. The opposite side shows the chateau, or castle in the distance. Inside, this bowl has a gorgeous floral rim, and in the center, the castle again. Waste bowls were used for pouring out the remaining cold tea before pouring another cup of tea.

Definitely antique, this piece is unmarked as much early transferware and flow blue pieces are. And as much as I would love to be able to identify it, it remains a mystery. The ground has discolored to a grey tint, there is craquelure and a hairline which you would expect from an early 19th century piece. Other than the fact that it's beautiful, I don't know anything about it.  {hate that!} Display with your antique English, French, and American collection with joy.  Measures 5-1/2" x 2-3/4"h.
