Started in France in the early 1800's the custom of carrying {and leaving} calling cards was a social custom that became highly popular all through Europe and the United States.  Used by higher society, ladies and gentleman would leave a card when calling on their friends on a specified day of the week when the host or hostess would be "at home."

This set of Victorian Calling Cards are die cut with embossed scraps featuring beautiful pink and red roses. They are "hidden name" cards, when the scrap is lifted, the name of the caller can be found. These are from the late 1800's, as the names are stamped. A fun collectable addition to your paper ephemera collection. There are bends on the scraps, as they have been "peeked" at over the last 100 years! Each measures about 3-1/2" x 1-1/2". Set of two.
