Antique Hand Colored Map of France 1852

Antique hand-colored Map of France divided into departments the year Louis Napoleon Bonaparte proclaimed the Second Empire. The map was hand painted with water color by an artist, with impressive details of the country, it is dated 1852 and was produced by George Philip and Son as part of the Gerneral Atlas of the World.

The map includes the area around Paris, the fabulous Cote d'Azur along the Mediterranean, and all the French wine areas including Bordeaux. I love that it lists facts about France such as: population, revenue, debts, army and ships {317!} for that year. Printed on cream paper, blank on the reverse side. To be expected in prints of this age, there may be a few characteristic areas of foxing etc., this print is in beautiful antique condition. Perfect to frame, decorative for a gentleman's office, library, or your French Country home. Measures: 12-3/4" x 10-3/4"
