Darling small book, The Child's Natural History, In Words of Four Letters, written and illustrated by A.L.Bond this tetragrammatic tour de force was printed by George Routledge & Sons in the 1800's. The inscription reads "Presented to Eddie, by his teacher" with a fanciful ink name. The book has lots of black & white illustrations of animals, it originally cost sixty cents.  Written in the hope of offering a book of words of 4 letters so that children could read it all by themselves, and be interested in the world of natural history.

99 pages with descriptive stories about Rein Deer, Gold Fish, Fox, Worm, Jay, Ass, Newt, Dog, Hawk,Seal, Bear, Owl, Wolf, Glow Worm, Star Fish, Lam, Frog, Was, Rook, Lama, Wren, Lion, Carp, Mole, Lynx, Bee, Lark, Bat, Goat and more.  This little book was well read and loved, the cover shows wear, the pages are intact, one middle section is looser than the rest. A children's book of over 100 years does show it's been read, this was most likely a birthday or Christmas gift from a tutor to pupil. Measures 7-1/4" x 5".
