This stunning pair of antique hand carved decorative wood corbels depict cherubs, or putto, used in a church for joining the ceiling beams to the walls. The carving of these is truly exceptional, carved by hand by a master in the 1800's, these two have such a presence. {They have amazing life like personalities.} Their gaze is towards the heavens, in honor of the glory of God.

This pair has a fabulous warm patina, over the last 150 years they have acquired a luscious feel and softness. In wonderful condition for their age, they are a sterling addition to your collection of religious artifacts from France, your French Madonna's, Santos, Missals and reliquaries. They look beautiful used as scultural pieces laying down, but will also be divine holding a shelf for display. Each has aging, as shown. One was repaired long ago where a knot in the wood most likely fell out. In wonderful condition for their age. Each measures: 8"l x 3~3/4"w x 6~3/4"h. Sold as a pair.
