Glorious Madonna Tiara dating from the mid 19th century, 1859. Destroyed during the French Revolution, crowns like this were remade during the period from 1850-1890 {each parish took up donations from parishioners to purchase these iconic items.} Stunning large size, it graced the head of a nearly life-sized religious statue. Santos or Madonna crowns are becoming increasingly hard to find.

This one is beautifully created of ormolu repousse, with stunning scrollwork and ornamentation. Prongset large Red cut glass jewel glitters in the center, smaller clear stones as accents shine throughout this beauty. This is a fabulous addition to your collection of religious or opera crowns and tiaras.

Rarely seen ornamenting statues today in Catholic churches across France, each surviving crown is a special collectible part of French history, especially beloved by collectors. Crown measures 3" high x 6~1/4" w. {last photo shows a few of the first crowns available from our buying trip, more to come!}
