Half Dolls have been cherished by Victorian and Edwardian Ladies, and those trendy Flapper girls as well. Aquired fully dressed and attached to clothing brushes, pincushions, whisk brooms, lamps or tea-cosies, or purchased undressed and costumed by their owners, thousands of these sweet little half dolls were made in the first two decades of the 1900's. Highly collectible, each one is a tiny treasure, a little work of art.
Exquisite hand painted Porcelain Half Doll, ca. early 1900's, with the sweetest face, beautiful elaborately curled and molded Pompadour hairstyle, and pert little "rouged" mouth. What a beauty she is! The Porcelain Half Doll is German, and in wonderful condition, well painted. Her arms are away from her body, her hands demurely placed on her body. Her skin is "like alabaster" as it should be.
Her Lace overskirt is the finest French Bretonne Needle-Run Lace, in a soft Cafe~au~Lait color. This falls in points around the hemline, tied with Metallic French Ribbon at the waist, with Ribbon Rosettes. Measures 10-1/2" tall, 8-1/2" x 5-1/4", has been rewired by the owner, but as with all antique and vintage lighting, we recommend that you have your electrician check this for current safety standards.
