Antique French Louis XIII Style Carved Oak Footstool, found in the Normandy region of France. Little wooden stools like this were use to rest weary legs and get them off of cold floors in winter time, when sitting by the wood stove. A sturdy traditional footstool in rectangular shape, it has four hand turned legs and crossbar. The top has a rich and warm oak patina, it features a large carved scrolling fleur-de-lis-like design and a groved beveled edge.
A wonderful and classic addition to your French Country home, to set by a favorite chair, or to add height to a display of your precious majolica collection in your dining room hutch. Has age, patina and wear, just what you want to see in a country piece of this age.
