French Country Brown Glazed Pâté Pottery Terrine, Yellow “”terre vernissée”, hand potted and decorated, then fired in a kiln. Part of the French culinary history, decorative tureens like this were made in the Brittany region in France. The small hole in the lid allows steam to escape while baking.
The pâté was cooked in the oven in the terrine, usually set in a baine marie filled with water to make the cooking process more even and gentle. Has patina, wear, and everything you want from an old piece of French Pottery. Fantastic to find with the original lid, a fabulous addition to your collection, display with your antique majolica, your confit pots.
