Exquisite Tablecloth and twelve napkin set loomed of a luminous damask in a soft off-white cream, weighty and extremely fine quality silken linen damask. This gorgeous table service has an overall motif similar to the French “oeil de perdrix” except that the design is round shapes, sublime! The cloth is completely hand embroidered with Appenzell type embroidery, floral motifs that are so delicate and of the highest quality. Decorative garlands dance around floral wreaths. The cloth has faggoting allover for the square design, the double hems are finished with openwork stitching.
One large beautiful monogram, “E M” adorns both ends, and a single smaller version embellishes each napkin. This set is of luxury quality in every way, from the hand and grade of the gorgeous fabric, to the fine needlework done by master embroiderers. Early 1900’s.
