Antique Staffordshire Pink Rose Cauldon Transfer Oyster Plate , with a gorgeous rose design, made in the early 1900’s by Cauldon, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, England. Such a lovely floral design dances around the scalloped edges, it showcases the timeless beauty and craftsmanship that has made Cauldon renowned among collectors and connoisseurs.
Six perfectly proportioned wells and a center well for sauce are perfect to showcase and indulge in fresh oysters. The center sauce well has a cartouche design that looks like a crown. Not perfect, this early plate has some of the discolorations and small ‘sand’ spots indicative of the early transfer ware process. Of note, there is an edge chip on the rim and a factory glazed over indent – please see the photos. These English Staffordshire transfer-ware oyster plates are so rare to find, I forgave this.
