Antique French Silver Plated Wine Pouring Basket, a very pretty woven metal bottle carrier from the early – mid twentieth century. You can pour the wine by holding the basket handle. Woven metal wine baskets of this type were made entirely by hand, a tradition several centuries old. A diminishing art in France due to the skill and patience required.
Features a twisted attached carrying handle, the base is a true woven basket design. Each one of these wine bottle baskets or cradles is a masterpiece, a one of a kind creation because the artisan put his hand on each wire. There is darkening of the metal, wear and patina. Will hold a standard bottle of your favorite vintage.
