Exquisite small Virgin Mary or Madonna & Christ Child Statue, made of metal and both wearing beautifully ornate crowns. This is the Madonna from Notre-Dame du Chene, and sold on the steps of the grand Basilique there. The Notre Dame Du Chene is called The Basilica of Our Lady of the Oak.
Marked ND du Chene, this is from the earlier 1900’s and was sold as a souvenir long ago to believers. This Virgin is so lovely, with beautiful devout expression, she holds a staff topped with a cross.A sweet addition to your collection of religious artifacts and devotional pieces from France. Decorative Oak leaves circle around the base. At one time the Christ Child’s head has been reattached.
