Exquisite 19th century Antique French Haviland Limoges Pink Moss Rose Cake Serving Plate. Made by Haviland et Cie between 1876-1886, the decorator’s mark shows it was decorated between 1879-1889. Simply gorgeous, the plate or platter has a wide soft Pink border, and then a Moss Rose. The open rose design is unique as the floral is usually shown as closed rose buds.
The floral decoration consists of a large open Rose and two buds in bright, vivid Pink with shaded leaves in light and medium green to darker Aqua Blue-Green shades with contrasting stems, surrounded by soft Blue flowers. The plate is beautifully made with dimensional leaves and “handles” finely hand painted in gilt, as is the inner circle. This is truly one of the prettiest Limoges plates I have seen, the soft, soft Pink is delicious! A true treasure for your collection.
