Antique French Brass Coin Collecting Box, made of brass with copper sides, used long ago by a street organ player to ask for coins while playing music on the streets of small villages and large cities. Street organs were beautifully decorated with hand painted scenes then, and an organ player could wheel it around playing music.
Often the organ musician had a trained monkey {!!} with him to collect the coins. The shape of the box made it easy to hold, and easy to jingle the coins around for a sound without them flying out. A fun piece of history, perhaps to hold your own coins on a desk, your country kitchen or?
