This Antique Christian Book The Beauty of a Life in Service, by Phillips Brooks is a true jewel. A sweet little book that was a favorite to gift for birthdays and other holidays, the cover features stunning gold embossed roses and a chromolithograph of blue forget-me-not flowers with a ribbon bow. Published by H M Caldwell Co. New York, which began publishing luxury books with beautiful covers in 1896. The inscription in the front shows that this was, indeed, a Christmas gift: To Effie. Dec. 25-1903 Mrs. W. C. Walker.
There is some wear to this little gem as shown, which is wonderful because that means Effie read and re-read her gift book! The cover has done its job of protecting the pages within wonderfully well for over 120 years. The book is divided into The Beauty of a Life in Service and Thought and Action. Considered a Christian classic, a good addition to your collection.
