19th Century Christliches Vergissmeinnicht Christian Forget Me Not Keepsake Memory Book

Sweet little 19th Century Christliches Vergissmeinnicht Christian Forget Me Not Keepsake Memory Book, with the most beautiful chromolithographs of flowers.  Precious size, the cover is cloth, with gold embossing and gilt end papers. Written in German, Vergissmeinnicht is German for Forget-me-not {Mozart composed a song with piano music with that title} this Victorian faith prayer book has a Bible verse for each day of the year.  Little books like this were much desired gifts in the 1800’s for birthdays and Christmas.

The illustrations are stunning, they are very reminiscent of Catherine Klein illustrations.  There are color chromolithographs for each month, then each day has a verse. This is a special edition, many of these were printed without the colored floral lithographs, making this one more expensive to purchase in the late 19th century. Every other page is a blank page for the owner to make notations about the scriptures or a prayer request etc. A true treasure, even if you don’t speak German, the floral illustrations are so delightful! There is wear to the cover as shown, the inside is in fantastic condition.
