Antique 'Grès' stoneware storage jar with thick heavy sides which helped keep the contents cool. Traditionally used for food storage in kitchens in the Brittany area of France. This has exceptional color, patina, craquelure, signs of a century of use, fabulous. The color of glaze is light - these pots were glazed by hand - with a lustrous shine. There is an impressed #3 on one side.
