Beautiful Antique Aesthetic Silver Plate Cake Basket made by Pairpoint in the 1800's with a stunning design of Birds in the domed center. Commonly called Bride’s Baskets, they were very popular as wedding gifts during the Victorian era. Meant to hold small cakes, or other sweets and fruit as part of a tea service or for entertaining. This is an elegant one, Pairpoint made only the finest luxury quality pieces.
The edge is decorated with a fluted design. The handle features an ornate floral embellished cut out on two sides of the center ball. A special addition to your collection or antique sterling and silver plated serving pieces. The very essence of spring, it features two birds amidst flowers. Not perfect, there is wear where the swing handle rest on the basket, and a few spots of missing silver-plate where perhaps something acidic like lemon cake was left too long. I still love it, if you can love her like she is, please adopt. : )
