A rare find, this Antique Aesthetic Silver Plate Cake Basket has a stunning design of Birds and a Nest in the center. Commonly called Bride’s Baskets, they were very popular as wedding gifts during the 1800's. Meant to hold small cakes, or other sweets and fruit as part of a tea service or for entertaining. This one is so beautiful, made by Wilcox.
The design etched into the bowl makes it a special addition to your collection or antique sterling and silver plated serving pieces. The very essence of spring, it features two birds, a nest with three eggs nestled amidst the early spring flowers of blue bells, lily of the valley and more. Not perfect, there is wear on the monogrammed handle sides, and where the feet are attached it has pushed into the bowl ever so slightly. If you can love her like she is, please adopt. : )
