19th Century Majolica Grape and Strawberry Plate, in such gorgeous deep intense colors. This Victorian plate was made by Samuel Alcock & Co, Burslem, Staffordshire, England, circa 1850. The central large grape leaf is shown with a vine border, along with a gorgeous molded design of purple bunches of grapes and the berries and blossoms of the strawberry plant.
The back has a bold mottled ochre, green and brown underside with three stilt marks. The bold coloration of intense cobalt blue, golden yellow, ochre, green and chocolate brown is distinctive to Alcock majolica pottery pieces. The glaze is so brilliant! A stunning addition to your collection of French, English and American majolica.
