Antique Majolica Plate with a stunning Bird of Paradise design, made by the Mouzin-Lecat majolica factory in Wasmuel, Belgium between 1880-1900. Moulin-Lecat, on the north border of France, began producing barbotine {majolica} in 1878. This beautiful plate features a bird of paradise in a cherry tree , no doubt about to begin a feast.

The scalloped molded rim and the soft colors make this a special piece for your collection. The hand painting in this particular color palette is rare in how delicate it appears. Colors are soft sage green, blue, pink, red, yellow, soft grey and brown. There are a very few minor fleabites to the very rim, and the back shows glaze crazing and stilt marks which is what you want to see on antique majolica.
