Beautiful deep cobalt blue, this Antique Staffordshire Blue Transfer Plate was made by Joseph Clementson in the 1850's in Handley, Stoke on Trent, England. For a plate more than 160 years old, it is in such rare condition. The paneled rim features a wide flower border, the center is the more difficult to find Leipzig design, with a scenic view of trees, bridges over the water and large cathedrals and grand estates.
Kept very carefully by a collector, and marked on the back with the Clementson Phoenix. This early piece of collectable blue transfer ware is a star to add to your collection of antique English, French and American pieces.
