Beautiful and very decorative Creamware Vase, in the shape of a lady's hand holding a large Sea Shell. Perfect to hold a few roses or other flowers from your garden, this beauty was made with great care. The ruffled sleeve at the base is glazed bisque, this is a rare shape I have not seen before.
There is a small chip on the top of the shell as shown, and one under the base, as many of these earlier porcelain pieces do. That they survive at all is nothing short of a miracle. A find for your collection of Victorian porcelains and sea side items, looks wonderful with others, but stunning on its own on your French desk, your nightstand, or next to your favorite books.
