Exceptional early 19th Century Lamb of God Hand Carved Altar Mirror, most likely made in Italy by the craftsmen of Florence in the 1800's. It's so rare to find a small devotional mirror like this, with the exquisite lamb carved at the top. A fabulous find for your collection, the wood has the original paint in softest dove grey, cream, and gilt, which has mellowed to a beautiful weathered patina.
Made to serve on the altar of a chapel, this is a treasure. The mirror has aging, there are repairs and plenty of wear as shown, what you want to see in a devotional piece over a century old. Back has red marbled cover.
