Monumental, large 19th century English cut glass and sterling silver mounted desk inkwell, truly stunning in person. One of the largest inkwells that I've found, beautifully in Birmingham, England, in 1905. The cover opens to reveal the glass ink liner, with a circular bottom.
The heavy fine quality glass body of this inkwell has deep cut glass ornamentation to the underside in the design of a star. Two of the beveled corners have a very small flea bite, the sterling silver lid has a few minor indentations, which are really small. Considering the age of this incredible large desk accessory, this is in exceptional condition. Marked inside the lid, and on the collar, with the date letter, the anchor of Birmingham, and the lion passant.
