Exceptional, this set of two Antique Continental Silver Cherub Hors d'Oeuvres Forks are a beautiful addition to your table or collection of sterling silver. The stems and handles feature a decorative foliate design, with Rococo style plums and scrolls and a wonderfully detailed cherub amid flowers. Pieces with figural handles are unusual and rare to find, and avidly collected by silver enthusiasts and collectors.
Each cherub is expertly created, they are shown both front and back, a sure sign of a luxury piece of work by a master silver smith of the 19th century. High quality, this love of fantasy in exemplary silver work is indicative of the sense of humor of the Victorians in the mid to late 1800's. These two are perfect to use at your bar to serve olives, or for anything else you want them to do. Marked 800 for the silver standard of Europe at the time these were made. They are a lovely example of why I shop my "secret European sources" for silver. Sold in a set of 2.
