19th century French Antique Toy Horse, originally made with natural horse hair and hide. This decorative horse has a wooden hand carved frame covered in burlap and remnants of genuine hide with a real horse tail. Remnants of old paint still reside on the pull cart with its original wheels. This horse was a children's toy, loved and "ridden" by generations of petit children, and her little ears have worn off. Her name is "Chantilly" after the French town of Chantilly which has been famous since 1834 for horse racing. Worn and shabby though she is, she still wears her faded blue satin ribbon and award pin with pride.
