Rare circa 1839 Transferware Cup & Saucer made by Faiencerie Jemappes. This early tea bowl and saucer has a deep ink black transfer design that features a young woman carrying a vessel on her head and a young man seated near a fountain. The setting is a lush countryside. Inside the cup, amid the floral garlands pattern, is a center scene of the bucolic village in the background.

zWhat a beautiful decorative cup and saucer, from a time when tea was precious, and tea cups came without handles. In wonderful condition for the age of this, such a treasure to add to your collection of antique French and English country transfer ware from the early 19th century.
