Antique Pink Guilloche Enamel Sterling Dance Compact, with a pill box shape. The body is sterling silver, the front has soft pink enamel design over cream. The very center is in the shape of a large flower. Guilloché is a mechanical engraving technique produced by a special lathe or “rose machine,” that dates to the 17th century and was very beloved in the Victorian era.
This little one shows the flower center off surrounded by lighter cream colored enamel. The inside is gilded, the original sterling chain is present, it has a gold filled chatelaine hook. There is a small dent to the side where it closes, priced accordingly.
