A sweet complimentary pair of Large Antique English Cream White Staffordshire Pottery Spaniel Dogs, these decorative charmers date to the 1840's as evidenced by their modeled backs. Spaniels were favored as pets by English royalty, in particular by Queen Victoria.  Staffordshire pottery spaniels were avidly collected {still are!} and beloved, in the mid to late 1800's any luxury class home would have these displayed on mantels throughout their homes. These cream white seated spaniels are modeled in opposing sides.

One displays a gilt collar and a lock, the other has them, but they either were not accented with gold paint or it has worn off over the centuries. The male is a little bit more cream, most likely from having to roam hill and dale to provide for his family. His beautiful wife is purer white, she was pampered. Both have incredibly beautiful hand painted faces {which is why I bought these!} and wear you should expect to find on pottery of this age. Firing holes on the back.
