Lovely 19th Century Dark Green Leaf Majolica Plate with a decorative Leaf design, with tendrils on the vine. The background is a stippled pattern, this is a very early plate from the mid to late 1800's. This estate collector's heirloom plate doesn't have a makers mark. The plate is thickly potted, a gorgeous luminous dark green color, it has three stilt marks underneath as it should.

Illustrated in Schiffer's ''Victorian Majolica'' by Leslie Bockol {pg.125} There is wear and these early plates have an area where the glaze rubbed off on the rims as many of the earlier pieces do. Please only purchase if you love and appreciate the grace of time, these plates are over 140 years old. A stunning addition to your collection of antique French and English Majolica faience plates, platters and bowls.

Measure 7-3/4".
