Antique decorative Wood Basket, or Garden Trug, from France, these were originally made to harvest grapes, although they were also used in the garden for flower picking, or in a family potager to place vegetables in to carry to the kitchen. The basket has cantered sides, and a metal handle, it was painted green several times over the decades by the family.
Patina, wear, and old worm holes as you would expect from a useful antique of this age. Fantastic size, perfect as a trug for gathering flowers from the garden, display on your antique dining table or hutch filled with apples, or any seasonal fruits, or storage for your gardening magazines. These are getting more rare to find in France, and are quite collectible. This is a very heavy country piece, it is rustic, bits of paint missing - it's the largest one I've ever found.
- Measures: 16" x 14" x 7"h; 17" to top of handle.
