Unusual Blue and White Transferware Plate made by Bishop & Stonier, Staffordshire, England in the early 1920's. B & S was in business at the potteries from 1851 - 1939. The company exported a large number of their luxury wares to America. They were known to have provided much of the china for the ill-fated Titanic and many other British liners of the era. This plate is such a gorgeous color blue, the border is ornate and rich in design. Decorative, with a compelling gilt scalloped edge {referred to as a "pie crust" edge} to make a statement in your decor.

Floral garlands surrounded by French scrolls surround an intriguing scene of an estate garden overlooking a river surrounded by trees and large manors. A little wear on the gilt, this heirloom plate is almost 100 years old, so please only purchase this if you can embrace the grace of time.

  • Measures 10-1/8".
