Lovely pair of vintage Silver Plated Grape Scissors, with repousse design of vines, leaves and clusters of grapes on the handles. Imported by Eisenberg-Lozano of New York, NY, they were noted as the luxury U.S. distributors for the English flatware manufacturers, Arthur Price, of Birmingham, and B & J Sippel, of Sheffield, among several other European silver companies. Grape shears were invented in the 19th century, used during the dessert course at a formal dinner. These shears or scissors are an instrument specifically designed for cutting grape stalks.

The handles on this mid-century {1950's} pair are very decorative, the blades are sharp and marked Solingen, Germany. Wear commensurate with age as shown, one side has a little roughness to the plate.  These are a lovely addition to your collection of sterling and plated silver tableware and service pieces. Use them at your next dinner party as a conversation starter!
