From a time in history when fine needlework was practiced by every wealthy Parisian lady, this pincushion was sold as a special souvenir, most likely in one of the shops near the Palais Royal. Ornate designs on both sides of the gilded metal cover, one side features all the rococo swirls and scrolls so beloved in the mid 1800's, while the other spells out SOUVENIR.
