Antique Black Tole Tole Tray decorated with gilt hand painted leaf garland detailing and flowers. The tray is enameled in deep rich black with gilt embellishments. The center has French Country garden flowers of roses, tulips, daisies, hydrangea, and other provencial garden florals. Colors are so lovely! Pink, cream, blue, cerise, cream, red, merlot wine, purple, lavender and yellow. Exciting find, collectible French trays of this age are rare to find, this tray is one of the heavier, early ones. Signed Made in France-Hand Painted according to the 1890 Tariff Act.
This is such a charming accent piece, it is in good age-appropriate condition. There is wear as shown, parts of the background paint is missing but has not been "in painted" {a good thing!} In one of the photos I upped the resolution and light so you can see that, but in "real life" it's not half as noticeable.
