Stunning Antique Red Transferware Plate, made by Regout, Maastricht, in the 1800's. Petrus Regout (1801-1878) descended from a Maastricht merchant family active in glass and earthenware since the 17th century in Holland. Petrus Regout established the De Sphinx pottery in 1836. De Sphinx operated under the name Petrus Regout & Co. until 1899, this collectible piece dates to 1910. Marked Old England Cambridge.
Gorgeous color, transfer printed, the plate is that pink red color collectors cherish, it still has a gleaming glaze. It features a central scene of England, with a large stately building by a river, nearby you can see elegant people in a park out strolling. The border has a lush floral decorations with roses and other flowers, three scenes of boating, a farm wagon and a country scene. In fantastic condition, and a nice size.
